This week we are going to look at one of my favourites,The Gruffalo. Here are some suggestions and ideas for exploring the story at home.
Sing!
I know you all enjoy the Gruffalo song we do in school. Why not sing it for your families at home this week? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZfEIX2lhlI
Make masks
We used to wear our Gruffalo masks in school when we sang the song. You could make your own mask at home. Here is a template to get you started.

Treasure hunt
The Gruffalo is set in a forest and we meet lots of different woodland animals. Most of us might not be able to visit a real forest at the moment but here is a little forest treasure hunt that you could set up at home in your house or garden. Can you find all the woodland animals? Can you count them?

Get baking Here is a recipe for a no bake Gruffalo crumble that you could try. Ingredients:
|
1) Place biscuits in a food bag and, using a rolling pin, bash into small pieces.
2) In a glass bowl, melt the chocolate, butter and golden syrup over a pan of simmering water
3) When melted, remove the bowl from the heat and add in all the dry ingredients (except smarties and jelly tots). Mix well.
4) Spoon the mixture into a silicone tin or otherwise line a shallow square tin with cling film
5) Using the back of a large spoon or potato masher, press down on the mixture to level and compact.
6) Add green smarties and purple jelly tots on top to decorate.
7) Put in the fridge for 2 hours to set.
8) Cut into squares and enjoy your Gruffalo Crumble
Don't forget to send me on any photos you take of yourselves trying out any of these suggestions [email protected]
